Stuart Diamond is the creator of the original Optimal Trust framework. Optimal Trust defines trust through a multi-dimensional model that maps the architecture of human, institutional, and societal relationships.
The model synthesizes insights from Diamond’s careers in business, philosophy, and compositional theory. He first began work on trust after the 2008 financial crisis, developing leadership training programs with a major global bank. He went on to implement his trust model for large healthcare systems, delivering measurable improvements in collaboration, performance, and ethical consistency.
In 2021, he began development of an AI-based platform that diagnoses trust and suggest targeted strategies to repair or strengthen relationships.
Diamond’s theoretical work on trust is influenced by his career as a musician, composer, and pioneer in the use of electronic instruments in classical music. He has written more than 100 works, which have been performed by leading ensembles, including the Kronos String Quartet. He is the founder of Electric Diamond, an electronic classical chamber music ensemble, which debuted at the Guggenheim Museum. The group has performed more than 100 full-length concerts at venues such as Carnegie Recital Hall and Symphony Space.
Diamond brings a life-long interest in philosophy and ethics. He served on the Board of Directors of the California Institute of Integral Studies from 2006 to 2015, and in 2018 he collaborated with the Center of Ethics at St. Thomas University to embed ethical trust theories into the school’s business programs.
Diamond has served as a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow, conducting residencies focused on the practical and ethical values of liberal arts education, at colleges across the United States. He holds a degree in Music and Philosophy (Phi Beta Kappa) from Haverford College, and an M.F.A. from Sarah Lawrence College.
